Project Scope

Drio partnered with IBEW Local 26 to design and develop a modern, user-friendly website on WordPress that could effectively serve multiple audiences, including members, contractors, apprentices, retirees, and the general public.

The site was built to be responsive, accessible, and easy to maintain. It supports daily job calls and referral systems, apprenticeship and training information, contractor resources, safety updates, and community engagement. Drio designed a clear navigation structure and customized the backend to allow the Local 26 team to update job calls, events, and news quickly and independently.

Challenges and Solutions

A major challenge of this project was organizing the large amount of content that Local 26 needed to present. The website had to serve several types of users who visit for very different reasons, from members checking job calls to contractors reviewing referral procedures and the public exploring training programs. To solve this, Drio created a clear site architecture that grouped content logically and made navigation simple. Each audience has an intuitive path to the resources that matter most to them.

Another challenge was ensuring the internal team could easily maintain the site. The Local 26 staff rely on the website daily and needed the ability to make updates without technical assistance. Drio customized the WordPress backend to be straightforward and flexible, allowing staff to add and update pages with minimal effort. Custom training videos were provided to support ongoing management.

Accessibility and compliance were also key priorities. As a labor organization, Local 26 needed to meet ADA, WCAG 2.1, and Section 508 standards. Drio integrated accessiBe, an AI-powered accessibility solution, to ensure the site is inclusive and compliant.

Finally, because the website handles sensitive information, Drio implemented SSL encryption, limited admin permissions, and used only premium plugins to maintain long-term security and performance.

Summary

The IBEW Local 26 website redesign transformed the organization’s digital presence into a modern, accessible, and centralized hub for communication. As one of the largest electrical unions in the region, Local 26 needed a platform capable of bringing together job calls, apprenticeship information, contractor resources, event updates, and community outreach in one cohesive system.

Drio delivered a scalable website that unites these diverse needs under a single, easy-to-navigate design. The new platform empowers staff to manage content efficiently, reduces technical barriers, and provides a seamless experience for every audience the organization serves. The result is a site that reflects Local 26’s professionalism, strengthens member engagement, and supports the union’s ongoing mission to serve its community and workforce.
